| I am replacing the valve cover gaskets on my 95 NA. Work a little bit each evening. Finished up the last exhaust valve cover just before going on vacation. Get back and I am looking at my parts table and noticed I still had one of the rubber half-circle plugs from the back of the exhaust valve cover/block. Sure enough it was the cover I worked on the night before leaving for vacation. I looked with a mirror and had a nice opening in the head where I forgot to put it in. The gray RTV did its job and I had to nudge/pry one side of the cover to get it to come off. Interestingly, while the RTV had cured and sealed the cover around the inner and outer edges, the RTV in the groove on the valve cover was still curing. It had been sitting for a week. Anyone every encounter this before? I assume when I clean the old off and replace the RTV it will eventually cure and harden. After the job is done how long does everyone wait before starting the engine? Thanks in advance.
